The Classic Tremolo uses a low frequency oscillator (LFO) circuit to produce a vintage sounding and warm tremolo effect.
The LFO circuit uses discrete transistors to avoid the introduction of noise from timer ICs or Op Amps and this keeps the pedal very quiet, even when using a daisy chain to power other pedals.
At low settings the pedal can produce a very subtle effect, allowing the pedal to be left on all the time as a way of giving space to your sound. At higher settings, a thick throbbing effect can be achieved for those times when a more pronounced effect is desired.
The Classic Tremolo can be placed anywhere in your pedal chain but we advise that you place it before your drive pedals. If you place the Classic Tremolo after boosts and drives there is a risk you could drive the pedal into distortion by hitting the front end of it just a little too hard.
The pedal can also be used as a simple, warm and clean boost with plenty of gain on tap (at least 10dB), just turn the speed and depth knobs all the way down and turn the level knob up. 12 O’clock on the level control delivers unity gain. Alternatively, the pedal could be used to cut your signal by turning the level control to the left.
The Classic Tremolo utilises JFET buffered switching for noiseless on-off switching and the pedal powers up in the same on-off state state in which it was powered down.
Wima caps are used in the signal chain and where that is impractical Nichicon Fine Gold series caps have been used instead.
